The Department of Social Welfare and Development said it is targeting to provide monthly stipend to 2.8 million indigent senior citizens this year. The allotment has been doubled from the total target beneficiaries of the program in 2016 which is more than 1.3 million. Likewise, thee approved budget allocation for the program’s implementation this year amounts to P17,940,258,000, more than twice the amount allocated last year which was P8,711,203,000. The SPISC is the government’s assistance, in the amount of P500 for poor seniors to augment their daily subsistence, including their medical needs.
